Thaniya currently heads up TED’s media initiatives on mobile and connected devices. She is responsible for overall strategic direction, investment, product, growth, and operations on all non-web platforms owned and operated by TED. Her passion lies in the intersection of human-computer interaction, design, and behavioral economics.
Prior to TED she led product development for live game experiences at MLB for seven years. Her work has been recognized by numerous awards, including Emmy, Peabody, Adobe MAX, Webby, DigiDay, and the National Design Award. She’s is also an active advisor for various projects at StoryCorps and National Geographic Learning.
An outspoken advocate for women leadership in technology, Thaniya gave a talk at TEDxPortland on designing habits for diversity and inclusion. She is an avid surfer, snowboarder, and traveler. Her primary hobby sits somewhere between design nerdery and travel photography.
Shamanth Rao is an experienced mobile growth expert with deep experience in the gaming space. He has driven growth for Bash Gaming (acquired by GSN Games) and for PuzzleSocial (acquired by Zynga), among other companies.
Shawn Azman is the SVP of Growth at Leanplum, the marketing cloud built for the mobile era. Trusted by top brands like Tinder, Tesco and Lyft, Leanplum shapes meaningful user engagement across messaging and the in-app experience.
Prior to Leanplum, Shawn worked in the mobile analytics and monetization space as a growth manager at Kiip and a sales engineer at Kontagent. Shawn graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Anna is passionate about building user-centric mobile products. At Starwood, she is product owner on the multiple award winning SPG app, supported on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android. The app allows guests to natively book stays, manage their reservations and points, use property technology such as keyless check-in, and see personalized offers across all 13 of Starwood’s hotel brands.
Her previous roles include positions at digital agencies MXM, Saatchi & Saatchi and CREATETHE GROUP working with clients such as P&G, General Mills and De Beers.
Ben is the Director of Customer Acquisition at SeatGeek. His areas of focus include SEO, email marketing, landing page optimization and generally getting people to find, use, and keep using seatgeek.com and the SeatGeek mobile app.
Prior to joining SeatGeek, Ben was a business intelligence analyst for Buddy Media, which was acquired by salesforce.com. He also worked at Yelp and Clover.
Data and efficiency are two of his favorite things.
Trisha is the Lead Global Mobile Growth Strategist at eBay. She has over 10 years of experience in product management and business development from running her own start up and working extensively in the VC space.
In her past life, Trisha was also the lead App Developer Evangelism Manager at Microsoft and Strategic Partner Manager at Google. Through it all she has witnessed the evolution of the mobile channel and its growing business impacts on both startups and larger institutions.
Trisha currently manages acquisition channels that drive buyer growth metrics at eBay.
Daniel is the CEO and Co-Founder of Bamboo, a direct-response, creative-obsessed paid social advertising agency in San Francisco. Companies like Dropbox, Microsoft, The New York Times and Uber partner with Bamboo to help scale their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest advertising programs effectively. Daniel has been a mobile marketer since 2011 and loves building highly effective growth programs.
Jon Hudson joined Criteo in 2011 and currently serves as Vice President of App Advertising, responsible for the revenue, strategy and development of Criteo’s mobile app business in North America.
Criteo delivers personalized performance marketing at an extensive scale. Measuring return on post-click sales, Criteo makes ROI transparent and easy to measure. Criteo has over 2,500 employees in more than 30 offices across the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific, serving over 14,000 advertisers worldwide and with direct relationships with thousands of publishers.
Sarah leads global marketing for TodayTix, the first and only free mobile app for iOS and Android that provides access to the best prices on last minute theater tickets, booked same-day or within a week’s time.
TodayTix launched in NYC in 2013 and is now live in London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, Connecticut, Philadelphia and Seattle.
Andrew Birnbryer is Managing Director, Americas at AppLift, where he leads relations with publishers and developers, focusing on user acquisition and brand engagement. Andrew was previously SVP of Business Development & User Acquisition, responsible for growing AppLift’s traffic supply. Upon joining the company in 2013, he was responsible for opening and growing the US office.
Andrew is a proud Golden Bear, graduating from UC Berkeley with a BA in Economics. Prior to joining AppLift, Andrew was the youngest Vice President of City National Bank. He is an enthusiastic gamer and avid freestyle skier.
Scott is a digital marketing and product leader focused on directing mobile, web and emerging media strategy. This includes acquisition, monetization and product optimization to maximize revenue and consumer growth. He believes it’s important to use data and customer intelligence to create a compelling roadmap for acquiring and retaining profitable consumers at an efficient cost.
His current role is Managing Director, Platform Operations at The New York Times. In this position, Scott leads the content, monetization and product strategy across off-platform partners, including Apple, Facebook, Flipboard and Google, among others. Previously, he led The Times’ entrance into the mobile subscription business, as well as product marketing for the company’s beta offerings (Cooking, Crossword, etc.).
Scott also teaches eCommerce and digital marketing within the MBA program at New York University (NYU). Both classes represent a holistic picture for students to develop a full understanding of the digital (web/mobile/off-platform) experience to maximize conversion and revenue.
Prior to The Times, Scott directed mobile strategy (marketing & product) for Avis Budget Group. He also founded BakBurner Digital, which released eight successful iOS and Android apps, including Winery Passport and Brewery Passport, the top wine and beer apps in their respective industries. His roles at additional past companies include the NBA, Fox News and AT&T.
Lauren Picasso is the Director of Marketing at Jet.com, an eCommerce company that raised more than $570 million in funding and was acquired by Walmart for $3.3 billion in August 2016.
Lauren has worked across various online and offline marketing channels since joining Jet, including TV, out-of-home, public relations and display. She now leads Jet’s mobile marketing team, overseeing customer acquisition, retention and product marketing of Jet’s iOS and Android apps.
Lauren has an extensive background in retail and eCommerce. She was an early employee of Rent the Runway where she focused on merchandising and operations strategy and has also worked for Google Shopping and Bloomingdale’s. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania and MBA at Harvard Business School.
Adam Hadi is a user acquisition consultant based in New York City. He helps apps with overall marketing strategy and spend while specializing in influencer marketing.
Previously, he was the Head of Marketing at Draft (PlayDraft.com) and led User Acquisition at Topps Digital after spending several years as an Economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Adam earned an M.A. in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Economics from Binghamton University.
Jonathan Pelosi has spent the past 5 and half years at Google, focusing on mobile marketing performance and brand strategies.
Today, Jonathan is the Head of Industry for Mobile Apps in the Americas where he leads Google’s mobile app marketing sales and strategy efforts. Jonathan and his team work across all verticals and sectors to help Google’s largest partners drive awareness, acquisition and engagement of their mobile apps.
Jonathan has delivered keynote talks at various mobile conferences across North America and Europe.
Marina is in charge of Growth at Mimi Hearing Technologies, an mHealth company with the mission to develop smartphone based tools for people around the world to hear better.
She has 9 years of international marketing experience, ranging from large corporations to agencies and startups. Prior to Mimi Marina was responsible for international user growth strategy at FAMILO, Europe’s most popular location messenger app.
Peter is the COO and Co-Founder of Mobtimizers, a strategic agency for mobile and app optimization. His focus is transforming analytical insights into creative digital solutions for business impact.
Peter is at the crossroads of analytics, technology and creativity. He has spent the last 10+ years as a digital strategist – developing, designing, coding and building solutions for clients on web, social media and mobile platforms.
Alyssa Meritt is the Head of Strategic Consulting for Urban Airship. She helps brands act on future growth opportunities through data-driven insights and compelling storytelling. With over 15 years of CRM, digital marketing and strategy experience, Alyssa has delivered as a project manager and generated business results as a leader and strategist. Alyssa was recognized as one of Mobile Marketer’s Mobile Women to Watch in 2015, and one of the Top 10 Women Mobile and App Leaders by Business of Apps.
Urban Airship’s Strategic Consulting team helps mobile innovators like Starbucks and Home Depot plan and optimize their mobile experiences. The team helps craft omni-channel acquisition, retention and loyalty strategies for global clients in almost every vertical.
James has over a decade of digital and mobile marketing experience. He is currently CEO & Co-Founder of The ASO Co, the world’s leading App Store Optimization agency. The ASO Co counts eBay, Spotify, Walmart, Sephora, Western Union, King, Expedia and many others as their clients. All work is focused on improving visibility, conversion rates and organic growth within the app stores globally.
Prior to founding The ASO Co, James was Director of Global Business Development at M&C Saatchi Mobile, a performance focused mobile media agency. While there he led the commercial team working directly with many clients including Alibaba, OpenTable, Skyscanner and others on acquisition, retention and monetization strategies.
Before M&C Saatchi Mobile, James founded, ran and sold two successful eCommerce businesses in the retail and entertainment space.
Coming from a 25-year background in senior management in the entertainment and gaming industry, Tony has an excellent track record as a successful entrepreneur and CEO.
Over the past 10 years Tony has raised over $15 million in VC funding and recently ran two successful crowdfunding campaigns raising over $1 million. Tony has started four companies and had three successful exits. Most recently, he founded TeePee Games and launched its consumer brand gamesGRABR. Described by BBC Click as “like Pinterest for gamers” and named a top 25 UK company by Mashable, it is now expanding into other brand verticals such as wineGRABR, fashionGRABR, and more.
Previously, Tony was the CEO and Co-Founder of Player X. He spearheaded the company’s development from a two-person startup in 2004 to becoming Europe’s largest mobile games distributor. Library House named Player X as the fourth fastest growing VC backed company in the UK before Spanish mobile content company Zed acquired it in 2009.
Tony is also the Co-Founder of an executive networking event called the Centurions that is aimed at the digital entertainment industry and takes place every two months in London along with events in New York, Istanbul, Berlin, and Munich.
Sabrina is the Head of Direct Marketing at Dashlane, the world’s best password manager and secure digital wallet.
Sabrina joined Dashlane from Zipcar, where she managed the company’s digital media budget and was responsible for membership growth in all Zipcar’s North American markets.
Prior to that, Sabrina held multiple marketing positions at Sallie Mae and Upromise, the leading college savings program. As Director of Digital Marekting at Sallie Mae, she expanded their private student loan marketing into social media and display and led a cross-functional team to create an in-house ad serving engine that later became a key acquisition source for Sallie Mae.
Sabrina studied international business at Beijing University of Chemical Technology and received her M.A. in Economics from Tufts University.
Sam leads the mobile growth initiatives for Seattle-based startup Hiya. Formerly known as Whitepages Caller ID, Hiya identifies the calls you want to pick up and blocks the ones you want to avoid like telemarketers, spammers and scams. Hiya automatically blocks scam and spam threats across the globe so that your iPhone and Android experience is safe and secure.
Prior to Hiya, Sam founded several other mobile-related startups including Everbadge (a mobile ad network), SDKtraffic and RZLTS.
Steve P. Young is the founder of AppMasters.co, a mobile growth hacking agency whose strategies have landed press on TechCrunch, VentureBeat, The Next Web, iMore, TUAW, AppAdvice, BGR and many more.
His unique approach to app marketing has also allowed his clients to become the #1 trending keyword in the App Store, along with hitting the top charts in their categories.
Steve also has his own app portfolio of over 50 apps. He believes in learning, executing and teaching.
Martin has 20 years’ experience in launching and building technology businesses in the financial technology, music and media sectors, and a prior career in investment banking as a bond trader.
Having experienced first-hand the growth challenges facing tech startups and the lack of financing options open to developers, he saw the need to marry his traditional financial markets and technology experience to create a disruptive new business model for the digital industry.
Prior to Pollen VC, Martin was CEO at Soniqplay, CEO at Level Four (acquired by Clear2Pay) and a Director of UBS in London, where he ran the short-term credit-trading group and conceived and delivered UBS’s first client-facing electronic debt trading platform.
Gary Yentin is a senior mobile executive with over 20 years of experience managing strategy, marketing and sales for established companies and startups in the entertainment, new media and technology sectors.
For the last 10 years Gary has focused on mobile technologies, including content development and distribution in the capacity of Vice President at m-Qube. His work in mobile monetization includes advertising, marketing and promotion at Admob, Enpocket, Nokia, Jumptap and Quattro, where he helped build and monetized the largest mobile entertainment brands.
Gary currently focuses on discovery, distribution and monetization of mobile and tablet applications across all platforms in his role as CEO and founder of App Promo.
Gina is the VP of Growth at Duolingo, the most downloaded education app in the world. Over the past 3.5 years she has helped build Duolingo’s user base from 3 to 150 million. Gina runs the cross-functional growth team and is in charge of all marketing and communications at the company.
Previously, Gina represented Tumblr in Latin America and led their strategy for international growth. She also developed international digital marketing campaigns for luxury brands such as LVMH, Estée Lauder and American Express.
She’s had the honor of giving keynotes at conferences in Brazil, Mexico, the United States and China, and of presenting to President Obama.
Gina has a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Brandeis University, where she co-authored a neuroscience study about socio-cultural differences in memory and aging.
Michael leads the customer acquisition growth team at Begin, a company that creates amazing learning experiences for young kids, with a focus on reading. He oversees paid and organic marketing growth across multiple channels and platforms for the award-winning Speakaboos and Homer app products.
Prior to Begin, Michael oversaw digital subscription growth at Star Tribune, where he grew vertical revenue 52% and improved retention by 13% in 18 months.
Michael is a proud alumnus of 5x FCS Football National Champion North Dakota State University, in Fargo, ND.
Brian’s passion is building and optimizing digital, mobile and social channels. He is the CEO and Co-Founder of Mobtimizers, a strategic agency for mobile and app optimization.
Brian spent 15 years as an external and internal digital marketing consultant within B2C and B2B at leading international companies including Danske Bank, Experian and GE.
He regularly speaks at international digital marketing conferences, with a focus on digital marketing and social media management.
Kristin Zecher is a 26-year-old entrepreneur, foodie and globetrotter.
While studying abroad in Italy she was exposed to an alternative approach towards food consumption via Florence’s Mercato Centrale. Upon returning to New York City, Kristin dreamed of bringing the Italian farmer’s market approach to the States, and opening an indoor farmers market available to consumers seven days a week.
Her app, Aura Rating, was born with this vision in mind. Aura Rating was created to empower consumers to partake in the farm-to-table movement by using the app to find local farm-to-table restaurants.
Aura Rating is currently available in all five boroughs of NYC with plans for expansion to Miami and other major cities this year.
Patrick founded Priori Data in 2013 after working for a decade on the consumer side of market data.
As an analyst in the investment banking division at Morgan Stanley in New York City, he analyzed large volumes of data to assist in M&A, IPO, leverage buyouts and debt financing transactions. Later, as a Senior Associate at Vestar Capital Partners, a private equity fund, he relied on data to identify, evaluate and execute private equity investments across the U.S. and Western Europe.
Patrick holds a BA in Political Science and Spanish from Middlebury College in Vermont and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
Alexei Chemenda is the co-founder of MotionLead, a Y Combinator-backed ad tech company that helps advertisers grow their audience. In 2015 MotionLead was acquired and merged with Adikteev. The group now comprises 85+ people in 3 countries, and Alexei serves as Managing Director for the USA.
Alexei graduated from EPITA as a software engineer but he is now fully focused on growing the business in the US. He splits his time every month between Berlin, San Francisco, New York and Paris.
Cameron is a mobile marketing manager at Bamboo, a direct-response, creative-obsessed paid social advertising agency in San Francisco. Companies like Dropbox, Microsoft, The New York Times and Uber partner with Bamboo to help scale their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest advertising programs effectively. Cameron has deep expertise in paid mobile & social advertising operations, creative strategy, and analytics infrastructure.
Thomas has a decade of experience in digital marketing, the past 5 years focused solely on mobile.
Prior to launching The ASO Co Thomas was Head of Strategy at M&C Saatchi Mobile, where he led global mobile strategies for the likes of Microsoft, Amazon, JUST EAT, MixRadio, Time Out, Zoopla and John Lewis. In this role he covered everything from acquisition strategy, customer and market research, and ASO.
Marc is currently the CSO of Clarity Money where he is focused on growth efforts including user acquisition, operations, partnerships and marketing.
Prior to joining Clarity Money, Marc was the Head of Growth at Paribus where he oversaw the growth of the company from 10,000 users to almost 1,000,000 in 12 months. Capital One acquired Paribus in October 2016.
Previously, Marc was a Business Operations and Planning Analyst at Flurry. Before joining the Flurry team he founded Help Me Get In, a college consulting startup that mentored 50+ high-school students to gain admission into top-notch US and UK universities.
Marc graduated from Harvard University in 2014 with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. During his time at Harvard, he energized the early stage entrepreneurial community and collaborated with the Innovation Laboratory (iLab) at Harvard Business School.
Rory has over 20 years of experience at the commercial coalface of mobile and advertising. Having worked at This is Global, BBC and Vodafone in a sales capacity, Rory’s understanding of technology has been directly linked with the delivery of new commercial formats, ranging from the first popup banner ads at beeb.com to a pizza being bought on a mobile phone and charging your phone bill.
Rory founded Redbox Mobile, a full-service ASO agency with over 30 employees and offices in London and New York, in 2013. Redbox Mobile delivers every aspect of ASO, from app preview video, metadata and scripting to icon/screenshot design, ratings and reviews, link building and A/B testing.
Rory has a Degree in Business and Marketing from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland.
As SVP of Marketing for iHeartRadio, Beth leads brand, product marketing, acquisition and retention efforts. iHeartRadio is the No. 1 all-in-one digital audio service with over a billion downloads; it reached its first 20 million registered users faster than any digital service in Internet history and reached 90 million registered users faster than any other radio or digital music service and even faster than Facebook.
Beth was most recently CMO of Deezer, a leading music streaming service with over 6 million subscribers and 16 million active users. She was also CMO and EVP of Product at Zinio, the world’s largest digital magazine newsstand; and CMO of Stitcher, the leading on-demand radio and podcast app. Beth has held product and marketing leadership roles at Travelocity, Yahoo, Visa, Intuit, Clorox, and Digg.
Beth started her career as a management consultant with Accenture, and holds an MBA from UC Berkeley and BA from Northwestern University. She enjoys riding her bike around Brooklyn and exploring New York with her dog Quincy.
Jack Hoskins is the CEO of JK2Designs, a successful mobile app publishing company. Jack graduated from Northern Guilford High School in 2016 and has run the business full time ever since. He has been recognized locally and nationally for some of the successful apps that the company has developed and he has spoken at various conferences such as TEDx Greensboro, Minefaire and the National Society of Black Engineers. Jack has taken JK2Designs from being a small game development company to a full spectrum mobile application company with over 15 million app users and a wide variety of clients.
JK2Designs was founded in 2014 and began as a small game development startup working in Jack’s father’s garage. After about a year the company grew out of the garage and moved into an office and hired its first full time staff. From publishing over 200 apps and finding success, JK2Designs then switched its focus to entertainment-based apps. Today, the company is the largest publisher of entertainment apps worldwide and has over 20 employees in several offices managing a variety of projects at any given time.
Sylvain is passionate about app marketing and mobile growth. He co-founded Apptamin in 2012.
Apptamin is a creative agency producing mobile video ads and app store videos. Working with brands, agencies, startups and game studios, Apptamin helps its clients in creating the right videos based on the targeted channels and objectives. The company has team members in Montpellier (France), New York and Hong Kong and covers the whole process from discovery to video delivery.
Sylvain shares insights on ASO, app promotion and video creatives on the Apptamin blog and has spoken at various industry events.
